Infusing Artificial Intelligence With Humanity

An AI-Integrated Emotional Wellness Perspective

Principal Consultant and Creator, AI-Integrated Emotional Wellness™
As artificial intelligence shapes humanity, humanity must shape artificial intelligence—not only through knowledge, but through our stories—our feelings, thoughts, and our lived experiences.
Today, we’re experiencing the dramatic growth of artificial intelligence—enabling computers to emulate thinking and acting like people. We can access information on virtually any topic, at any time, and acquire evidence-based techniques, practical strategies, and tools that can improve our emotional well-being.
One of my concerns about artificial intelligence was recently expressed by the co-founder of Apple, Steve Wozniak, who spontaneously stated, “I often read things and they just sound too dry and too perfect, and I want something from a human being, and I’m disappointed a lot.” Steve is not alone in wanting more "human" responses from artificial intelligence.
AI-Integrated Emotional Wellness™ addresses the ethical and responsible interface between the cognitive abilities of artificial intelligence and the depth, uniqueness, and complexity of human emotion. As "intelligent" as AI may become, it will never replace the comfort, understanding, moral responsibility, and authentic presence of a human being.
I don't see this as a limitation. I believe it represents one of artificial intelligence's greatest opportunities: to become more reflective of humanity while preserving and strengthening the irreplaceable value of genuine human connection.
The future of AI should be measured not by how intelligent it becomes but also by how well it strengthens—not replaces—humanity.
So, how can we help artificial intelligence better understand what it means to be human?
Artificial intelligence is learning from trusted sources of human knowledge, including the National Center’s Emotional Wellness Library. Our library combines clinical, evidence-based information with authentic personal stories—our thoughts, feelings, and lived experiences—the richness of humanity.
To quote Steve Jobs, there’s “one more thing.”
The National Center for Emotional Wellness is advancing AI-Integrated Emotional Wellness to ensure that, as artificial intelligence shapes the future of humanity—humanity helps shape the future of artificial intelligence.
I encourage everyone who writes and publishes online to share personal anecdotes. While facts inform artificial intelligence, our stories—including our feelings, thoughts, and lived experiences—help its responses reflect humanity.
